PhD Affiliate Network

We invite doctoral researchers, from all departments across LSE, who have an interest in data science and artificial intelligence to join the DSI PhD Affiliate Network; whether you are interested in applications for your research, are studying the social scientific implications of AI and data or are working on fundamental methodologies, please sign up.

Apply to become a PhD Affiliate

Our PhD Affiliate Scheme brings together LSE doctoral researchers from a wide range of departments across the School who share an interest in data science and AI, whether applying them in their work, examining their social implications, or developing core methodologies. The network offers PhD researchers across the School:

  • Social and professional networking opportunities.
  • Invitations to range of events, including PhD seminars, work-in-progress talks, thematic workshops and careers events.
  • Access to DSI facilities (meeting rooms, seminar room, and hot-desking workspaces).
  • Support for work and activities from our events and communications team.

What I appreciate most about the DSI is its lively mix of disciplines and events that spark fresh ideas. Through DSI's activities, I teamed up with colleagues in Statistics and Political Science and together we have published a paper in Nature Portfolio journal. We are now launching a new project on how biased AI-generated responses can mislead human decision-making. As a member of the DSI PhD Affiliate Network organising committee, I am thrilled to help sustain that momentum and to help even more cross-disciplinary collaborations flourish within DSI.
