Lunch and Learn seminars

FLIA and The Centre for Women, Peace and Security host a weekly seminar series to showcase the work of LSE scholars working on Africa or issues affecting the continent.

The seminars are open to all staff and Master's students from across LSE . The events are hybrid and you are welcome to attend in person or via Zoom.

The first seminar of the new academic year will take place on 6 October and it will feature Lourdes López-Ropero, Visiting Fellow at the LSE WPS Centre and Associate Professor at the University of Alicante, who will present on “Towards Truth and Reconciliation: Crafting Alternative Spaces of Justice through Women’s Writing”.

The second seminar will take place on 13 October, featuring Anne-Line Rodriguez, Visiting Fellow, FLIA, who will present on “Patch-work: assembling livelihoods in a Dakar neighbourhood”.

The third seminar will take place on 14 October featuring Professor Jonathan Greenacre, Boston University who will present on his new book “Bridge Contracts for Mobile Money in Kenya”.

Previous seminars featured various experts such as Prof Tim Allen, Dr Karen Smith, Dr Kevin Watkins, Ms Sherizaan Minwalla, Dr George Bryne, Maël Lavenaire, Ms Oksana Potopova, Dr Will Mcinnery, Louise Arimatsu, as well as Deputy Head of the IMF's Africa, Catherine Pattillo, among others.
