Bio
Al Bhimani is Professor of Management Accounting at the London School of Economics. He is the Founding Director of LSE Entrepreneurship and has been Director of LSE Enterprise, Director of the South Asia Centre and has served as Head of LSE’s Department of Accounting.
Al has authored over 100 publications and carries out research in management accounting and AI, tech-entrepreneurship, and digitalisation’s impact on management control systems.
His most recent books are Accounting disrupted: How digitalization is changing finance (Wiley) and Financial management for technology start-ups (Kogan Page). Al is an advisory board member of business schools in Africa, America, Europe and Asia and speaks extensively to academic and business audiences internationally.
He qualified as a CPA in Canada after completing his MBA from Cornell University. He also holds a PhD from LSE.
Al serves on the editorial boards of European Accounting Review, Management Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Accounting and Business Research, Journal of Management and Governance and the International Journal of Accounting, among others.
In recognition of his research contributions, Al has been awarded an honorary doctorate from Aalto University in Finland and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the British Accounting and Finance Association.
