The Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management 2016 conference was held at the International Inequalities Institute on June 13th & 14th 2016.

This international conference gathered policy researchers and analysts from around the globe to share the latest research and knowledge on the pressing challenge on inequality.

Health Gap: The Challenge of an Unequal World

Health disparities are one of the most pernicious, and persistent, forms of inequality. Michael Marmot, author of The Health Gap and many other ground-breaking studies in this area, talks about the current state of health inequalities. Two experts on health inequalities - Anita Charlesworth, from the Health Foundation, and Kate Pickett from University of York - provide a response.

Causes and Consequences of Inequality in Academic Achievement

This plenary session features presentations from three leading researchers studying educational inequalities: Sean Reardon begins with an overview of trends in inequality in school achievement followed by Bridget Terry Long on inequality in access to and completion of higher education and Sandra McNally discusses two other domains - early childhood education and vocational/technical education. Lee Elliot Major from The Sutton Trust chairs and lead the discussion.
