The department is running a course pre-selection process for all Economic History students entering their third year in 2024-25.
The preselection process affects optional Economic History courses only, not core courses or outside options.
Below are the key actions and deadlines (under headings 1 and 2 in particular).
Why we are doing course preselection for incoming third years?
Most of our EH300 courses are capped at 18 and some fill up as soon as course choice opens. Occasionally this has led to some students being unable to select any of their preferred EH300 courses, which can affect their dissertation planning.
To ensure a fairer overall allocation of high ranked choices the department runs a pre-selection system for optional Economic History courses, including EC311. Under this system students submit their choices ranked by preference, with the final selection allocated using an algorithm. Students then enter their allocated courses on LSE for You when course choice opens, or risk losing their place on the course.
What to do and when
- Preselection opens 14 June
- Deadline for submitting course choices: 19 August 2024 (tbc)
