About me

Julia Xavier Stier is a human rights practitioner with expertise in migrant and refugee work, human trafficking, and gender rights. Julia is the Central Support Officer for the UKRI GCRF Gender, Justice and Security Hub and forms part of the core operational Hub team based at LSE. In this role, Julia provides management support in a complex international and multi-partner research project working with over 40 partner organisations and 140 Hub members. On the Hub, Julia is involved in a project investigating Feminist Practice: Early career researchers and Global South perspectives from an intersectional lens based on feminist principles.

Julia’s previous experience includes providing critical frontline support to survivors of modern slavery and legal casework working with detainees in detention centres and prisons. Julia has an interdisciplinary approach and background, holding an MPhil in Comparative Literatures and Cultures from the University of Cambridge and a BA in Modern Languages from Durham University.
