Executive Master's student

All applications for executive master’s degrees should be made via the LSE Online Admissions System. General information on the application process can be found on our Graduate Admissions pages, however please note some further information specific to executive degrees:

  • CV / Resume: Work experience plays an important role in many of our executive degrees so please ensure you include a clear, concise CV / resume as part of your application to avoid any unnecessary delays.

  • References: Two references are required for all executive degree applications and you will be required to provide contact information for each of your referees. Some programmes will accept two professional references, while others may require one professional and one academic reference if you have recently been in education. Please check your chosen degree’s requirements before making an application. LSE will email a reference request directly to your chosen referees, so we recommend you provide an institutional email addresses where possible.

  • Personal Statement: We determine your suitability for the chosen degree based on past experience and career goals and the personal statement is your opportunity to demonstrate this suitability. Collaborative and peer learning are an integral part of our executive degrees, so make sure your personal statement also includes details on what you think you will contribute to the classroom learning environment.

  • Proof of Previous Degree/s: Executive master’s degrees require applicants to be educated to at least undergraduate level. To demonstrate this, you should include a certificate or transcript from your university documenting your completion of the degree and your overall attainment and marks for individual courses. Supporting documents will be required for each of the degrees listed in your application.

  • GMAT / GRE: Some executive master’s degrees require Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) scores as part of the application. Further information about GRE / GMAT, including a full list of degrees which require these are available on the Graduate Admissions pages.

Our executive master’s degrees have varying start dates and application deadlines. Please check your chosen degree’s page for further information.

Submitting an application

Once you have compiled the supporting documents required for your chosen degree, you can apply via the LSE Online Application System.

Once all compulsory sections of the form have been completed, you will be prompted to pay an application fee. Your application will not be considered complete until the fee is paid.

LSE will email reference requests to each of your referees. Both referees will need to respond to their reference requests in order for your application to be passed to the selectors for your chosen degree. You can check the status of your referee requests by logging back into the LSE Online Application System.

Reviewing the status of your application

Once your application is completed and both referees have responded to their reference request, it will take the Graduate Admissions team 5 to 10 working days to process your application. At this point, you will receive an email from LSE prompting you to activate your LSE For You account. You will then be able to use these details to access the Graduate Application Tracker which will show the status of your application.

The Graduate Application Tracker will show you if a decision has been made on your application and will also indicate whether or not you will need to provide further information in order to allow the programme selectors to make a decision.

If you are made an offer of study for your chosen degree, the Graduate Application Tracker will list any conditions or requirements you need to fulfil before commencing study. If you have any questions about these, please contact your chosen programme’s team directly.
