A welcoming, global city

More than 300 languages are spoken in London, more than any other city in the world. For centuries, London has welcomed people from across the globe, and these people have helped create a vibrant, multicultural city.

In terms of studying, this is a great advantage because you'll encounter ideas from all over the world as part of your daily life.

LSE students often have classes where every other participant is from a different country. You'll challenge your preconceptions and gain new perspectives – which is invaluable in our globalised world. What's more, you'll also establish a global network of friends across the world.

An academic city

You'll also find a huge number of academic resources and research institutes here and London universities can arrange access to rare and special collections. Being able to access these facilities can be invaluable for your research, studies and future career.

There are over 1,000 museums and galleries, and 120 different libraries in London. The British Library, a 30 minute walk from LSE, houses over 150 million books, and three million new items are added to its collection every year.

Career opportunities

The headquarters of many major UK and international businesses, organisations and institutes are based in London and around LSE.

Many students make the most of LSE’s location by working part-time, organising internships or work experience, and volunteering. LSE Careers can help with this, as well as finding career opportunities in London, the UK, and worldwide after graduation.
