In addition to School-wide welcome activities, the Department has scheduled programme-specific events during Welcome Week (19-26 September 2025), as well as before and after that week, depending on your programme. All events will take place on campus unless otherwise noted. Events listed below will also be available on the Student Hub App in due course. Welcome presentations
It is compulsory for you to watch your Welcome Presentation
What is the Welcome Presentation? Your Welcome Presentation is your opportunity to learn about what it means to be part of the LSE community and our opportunity to welcome you to it. Your Welcome Presentation will offer you an introduction to LSE from key members of staff. It will include information about the many opportunities and support available to you while you study. It is where you’ll find out what you can expect during your time here, how we can help you to succeed in your studies, learn about our values, and discover how we can support your wellbeing.
• 12 noon -1pm (BST), Wednesday 17 September.

Welcome events for MSc students in the Department of Statistics!
It is very important that you attend campus enrolment. This is compulsory for you to attend. This takes place in-person and is where we will check your official documents, including passport and visa.
Once you have completed campus enrolment, you will be issued your LSE Card, giving you access to campus and on-campus teaching and services.

Complete your Consent.Ed training!
Our Consent.Ed programme gives you the tools you need to become an active bystander and make positive decisions about your relationships.
It is expected that you and everyone in the LSE community takes part in Consent.Ed. Level 1 and Level 2 should be completed by all students.

MSc Quantitative Methods for Risk Management |
Level 2 sessions will form part of your departmental induction. This will be a 90-minute workshop attended alongside your department peers. In this session you will explore issues around sexual consent, providing an opportunity to discuss how we can look for one another and create a positive, respectful consent culture, where everyone feels safe on campus.
Professor Zoltan Szabo is offering a (free!) Linux mini-course. The event will have a 1h talk, 10 mins break, 1h talk, 20 mins Q&A format and will cover the following:
Title: Linux -- The Operating System of Freedom
Abstract: Respecting freedom is a fundamental need and value in a healthy society. This simple idea (users' freedom) lead to the development of the Linux operating system around 30 years ago, with numerous far-reaching consequences including resource-efficiency, sustainability, transparency, security, privacy, and versatility. The aim of this mini-course is to help you get started with Linux. After a quick historical overview, we will touch upon some Linux variants (so-called distributions), hints on installation and applications for common tasks.
You are welcome to join upon interest, note that sign up will be required. Details will be provided.
