- All our Statistics programmes have a strong mathematical focus. To better prepare yourself and ensure a smooth transition into university-level Mathematics and Statistics courses, we recommend using your spare time during the summer break to strengthen your quantitative skills and revise A-level Mathematics content. A solid understanding of A-level Maths (or equivalence) is essential, as it is a prerequisite for the compulsory first-year Mathematics and Statistics courses. While A-level Further Maths is not a prerequisite, familiarity with its topics can also be beneficial.
- Please note that graphical calculators used in A-level exams are not permitted in LSE examinations. Only basic models (Casio fx-83 and Casio fx-85) are allowed. In fact, some courses (such as the first-year compulsory course in calculus and linear algebra) do not allow calculators at all. When revising A-level material, we encourage you to avoid relying on the advanced functions of graphical calculators to solve problems.
- If you have taken a gap year, we strongly recommend revisiting A-level Mathematics content over the summer to prepare for studying university-level Maths and Statistics. This will also help you re-establish your study routine and ease your return to academic life.
