Capacity building on generative AI tools for programming education

The goals of this project, funded by the British Academy Talent Development Awards 2024-2025 between March 2025 and June 2026, are twofold: allow for a in-depth study on generative AI tools used as auxiliary resources in programming courses, and establish a community of practice comprising teaching staff and students interested in the design of learning resources supported by generative AI and the exchange of case studies, best practices, and mutual development.

The main outputs include:

• AI in Education Showcase: a series of 45-minute interactive meet-ups throughout the 2025/26 academic year where LSE staff present their innovative use of AI in teaching, learning, assessment, or curriculum design and development in both qualitative and quantitative disciplines in the social sciences.
• AI in Education Exchange: an online repository featuring generative AI case studies in teaching, learning, assessment, and curriculum development, including those presented as part of the AI in Education Showcase series.
