Through generous donations, the LSE School of Public Policy is delighted to announce the creation of the Peruvian Scholarships for Public Service.
These new scholarships will train future generations of public policy professionals who are ordinarily resident in Peru. By supporting those who would otherwise lack the financial means to study at LSE, these new scholarships will address skills gaps to promote the country’s continued economic development.
The School of Public Policy was founded in 2018, under the leadership of Professor Andrés Velasco as its inaugural Dean. It is a highly international and diverse community where emerging academic research meets the practice of policy-making, creating professionals in public policy with the ability to analyse, understand and resolve the challenges of contemporary governance.
These new scholarships reflect the purpose of the School of Public Policy and the mission of LSE, which was founded in 1895 ‘to understand the causes of things, for the betterment of society’.
Welcoming this gift, Dean of the School of Public Policy Professor Andrés Velasco commented, "On behalf of LSE, I am delighted to receive this generous gift which will enable the transformational benefit of an LSE education to reach a wider group of talented individuals in Peru. We already have strong philanthropic and educational partnerships in the region, and I am proud to add this new scheme to our work. I look forward to welcoming the exceptional scholars that this scheme will fund".
About the funding available
The degree programmes offered by the LSE School of Public Policy eligible for funding are:

The Master of Public Administration (MPA), a two-year programme designed to equip students with rigorous analytical skills and practical tools, taught over 21 months of intensive study

The two-year MPA in Data Science for Public Policy, which provides students with the skills to address policy challenges in a world of rapid technological change, also taught over 21 months

The Master of Public Policy (MPP), an intensive nine month programme designed for early to mid-career professionals with 5+ years’ professional experience
The scholarship includes the full cost of tuition, a monthly stipend for living in London, and additional costs to cover travel and arrival in the United Kingdom.
Up to three full scholarships for the MPP, and up to three full scholarships for the MPA or MPA in Data Science for Public Policy, are available.

Launch Event
A Launch Event for the Peruvian Scholarships for Public Service took place at the Universidad Tecnológica del Perú (UTP) on Tuesday 18th April.
Presented representives from UTP with an appearnace by Professor Alexander Evans (Professor in Practice at the LSE School of Public Policy), this event explored the SPP’s vision for the betterment of society, our degree programmes and the application process for these prestigious new scholarships.
The School of Public Policy has signed an Memorandum of Understanding with UTP to further faciliate the promotion of the Pervian Scholarships for Public Service.
