We were delighted to launch our 2026/27 public events series by welcoming renowned scholar and bestselling author Professor Francis Fukuyama to discuss his new memoir, In the Realm of the Last Man.

The author of one of the most influential and widely discussed works of political theory of our time, The End of History and the Last Man, Professor Fukuyama joined LSE President Larry Kramer for a wide-ranging conversation exploring the origins of his new book, the state of liberal democracy today, the future of political science and critical thinking, and the vital role that public policy schools play in understanding how policy is implemented in practice.

Professor Fukuyama was welcomed to LSE by a full audience, including LSE students and alumni, who had the opportunity to engage directly with him during a lively Q&A session.

We look forward to welcoming many more influential expert speakers to LSE School of Public Policy to discuss and debate the pressing issues and ideas which are shaping policies and societies around the world.
