The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide has ranked LSE as the top university in the UK and named the School as its ‘University of the Year 2025′. The Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method has been ranked as the best Philosophy Department in the country.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject highlight the world’s top universities in 51 individual subjects, based on academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact. LSE Philosophy has been ranked 2nd best in the world in the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject, the highest ranking of any UK-based philosophy department.

LSE Philosophy ranked 4th in the UK: The Guardian University guide 2026

The annual Guardian University Guide provides overall rankings of UK universities as well as specific rankings for 54 different subject areas. The league tables rank institutions by subject, looking at student satisfaction, staff numbers, spending and career prospects. The 2026 guide placed LSE Philosophy at number 4 in the country.
