Attributions of Consciousness to AI

15 November 2023, 11:00 am5:00 pm

We are pleased to announce a hybrid workshop on Attributions of Consciousness to AI to be held on 15th November 2023 at the Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Science at LSE. The workshop brings together psychologists, philosophers, neuroscientists, and computer scientists to explore whether and how experts and lay people attribute consciousness to artificial agents. Topics include current understanding and potential measures of consciousness in AI, as well as determinants and consequences of lay attributions of consciousness to non-biological agents. The talks will be broadcast live for those who are unable to attend in person. To attend (either in person or remotely), please register here by 10 November. For questions, please contact Clara Colombatto (c.colombatto@ucl.ac.uk).

The event is not catered: attendees should bring their own coffee and make their own lunch plans.
