Ruth Kattumuri is Founder and Co-Chair of LSE India Observatory. She is an Academic and Diplomat (2020-2026) involved in multidisciplinary evidence-based research and global policy advisory and impact, concerning sustainable and inclusive economic and environmental development across Commonwealth countries. She is involved in knowledge exchange, technical assistance and capacity building programmes.
Her recent work pertains to fiscal and debt sustainability; inclusive urbanisation; trade and investments; vulnerability to climate change and access to climate finance; skills and employability; health policy; youth and gender inclusion; sports for development; all focusing on enabling sustainable and resilient growth and development across emerging markets and developing economies. She was responsible for designing and developing the Commonwealth Universal Vulnerability Index (UVI), which was a precursor to the UN Multidimensional Vulnerability Index (MVI) and Ruth was involved in consultations and collaboration with the UN for the development of MVI.
Ruth started her career in Computer Science/Machine language/AI, Statistics and Economics and was among core group of people actively involved with laying the foundation of Computer Science in India. In recent years she has revived her engagement with technology and Artificial Intelligence for inclusive development.
