Robert manages the Centre’s operations, research activities and public outreach. He leads the professional services team and contributes to strategy, fundraising, finances, project management, events, communications and publications. He is Co-Editor of the Bloomsbury Kurdish Studies book series.
Robert previously worked at Chatham House where he was Manager and Research Fellow, Middle East and North Africa Programme. He has held a Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship and an Honorary Fellowship at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, University of Exeter. He served as Executive Director of the British Society for Middle Eastern Studies and Convenor of the Society’s annual conference from 2015-2019. He has also served as a Special Adviser to the Foreign Affairs Committee, UK Parliament.
