Professor Yingfeng Fang

Professor Yingfeng Fang is a Professor of Economics at the Economics and Management School of Wuhan University and is currently a Visiting Professor at the International Inequalities Institute (III) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He received his PhD in Economics from Wuhan University in 2012.

His research focuses on inequality, poverty, intergenerational mobility, health economics, and public policy evaluation. His work is particularly concerned with the measurement and dynamics of multidimensional poverty, the determinants and consequences of inequality, and the ways in which health, social protection, and public policies shape economic opportunities and intergenerational outcomes. His recent research examines income inequality and intergenerational mobility in China, multidimensional poverty dynamics, and the effects of health insurance and public health policies.

Professor Fang was a Visiting Scholar at the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI), University of Oxford, from 2015 to 2016. He has published extensively in international and Chinese academic journals and has served in various academic and professional roles, including as a council member of the Chinese Association of Foreign Economics and as a reviewer for a range of international and Chinese journals. He is the author of The Poverty Reduction Model with Chinese Characteristics. His research has received several academic awards, including the Third Prize of the Ninth National Award for Outstanding Research Achievement in Humanities and Social Sciences (2024), the First Prize of the Thirteenth Hubei Provincial Award for Outstanding Social Science Achievement (2022), the Second Prize of the Thirteenth Hubei Provincial Award for Outstanding Social Science Achievement (2025), and the First Prize of the Seventeenth Wuhan Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award (2020).
