About

Professor Berrin Kalsın is a Visiting Professor in the Department of Media and Communications at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She is a Professor of Communication and Digital Media whose research focuses on strategic narratives, digital diplomacy, international political communication, public diplomacy, hybrid media ecosystems, artificial intelligence, and the transformation of communication and creative industries.

Her current research examines how strategic narratives are constructed, circulated and contested across hybrid media environments, with particular attention to the changing role of digital platforms and artificial intelligence in international communication and diplomacy. She is especially interested in the intersection of technology, media, institutional communication and global politics, as well as the implications of AI for communication, creativity and knowledge production.

Alongside her academic career, Kalsın has extensive experience in academic leadership and the creative and communication industries. She has served in senior academic leadership roles, including as Dean of a Faculty of Art and Design, with responsibility for interdisciplinary programmes spanning communication, design and the creative industries.

She is also the founder of an international digital media and strategic communication agency and has worked on communication strategies and digital media projects for major international organisations and high-level international events. This combination of academic research and professional practice informs her interest in the relationship between strategic communication, emerging technologies and institutional narrative-building.

Her broader research interests include the future of higher education in the age of artificial intelligence, academia–industry collaboration, and the changing structures of creative and media industries.
