Penny Montague

Penny oversees the department’s research operations and financial management. Her responsibilities include supporting the Research Committee, coordinating REF‑related activities, managing research grants and budgets, and facilitating the research visitor programme. She also oversees the department’s finances, ensuring budgets are managed effectively and in line with School policies. Across these areas, she provides strategic guidance and helps create a well‑supported environment for the department’s research community.

Penny has previously worked for Imperial College London and Goldsmiths, University of London in academic departments and student recruitment. She has an MA in Literary Linguistics from the University of Nottingham and a BA in English Language and Literature from The Open University. Penny is also a certified ADHD coach.
