Nathan Lane is an Assistant Professor of Development Economics at the London School of Economics.
He studies industrial policy and the politics of economic development, using historical data and applied machine learning to test long-standing questions with new evidence. He is a leading expert in industrial policy, a topic that has returned to the center of global economic debates. He is a co-founder of SoDalabs.io, based in Melbourne, and of labs studying industrial policy. Before joining LSE, Dr. Lane was an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Oxford, a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Monash University, and a Postdoctoral Researcher at MIT. He works with the World Bank, the World Trade Organization, and the OECD, advising governments on industrial and development policy.
