Nan Sandi

Nan Sandi is an LSE Fellow at the Global School of Sustainability (GSoS) at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Her research lies at the intersection of environmental economics, development economics, and political economy. Her research involves partnerships with governments and industry to study how market mechanisms and public policies shape environmental and economic outcomes.

Her work seeks to understand how economic development can be made more sustainable for both the environment and societies in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). She uses a range of methods, including randomised controlled trials, quasi-experimental designs, big data analytics, and machine learning.

Nan holds a PhD from the University of Oxford, a master’s degree from Duke University, and a bachelor’s degree from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She is also a Research Affiliate at the International Growth Centre (IGC).

Previously, she was an Economist at the IGC and worked as a consultant for the World Bank, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
