About
Kianna began her ESRC-funded PhD in the LSE Gender department in 2026. Her doctoral research explores how Black queer women of Caribbean heritage conceptualise and navigate desire and beauty across different socio-geographical locations, focusing on comparative case studies in London, England and Castries, Saint Lucia. Kianna’s work is grounded in Black queer feminist and decolonial frameworks; her research will draw on Black feminist anthropological qualitative practices using ethnographic interviews.
Previously, Kianna worked across applied academic and public health research. She worked as a Researcher at the University of Salford on the AHRC-funded Covid Sex Lives Project, exploring intimacy and sexual health practices. More recently, she worked within the NHS, conducting user and evaluative research across digital products and global health programs.
