
About
Gregory is a Visiting Fellow at the European Institute. Drawing on his experiences as a multilateral negotiator and advisor at the United States Department of State, Greg convenes a twice-yearly EU450 workshop on "Negotiations in a Multilateral Context" for the European Institute.
Greg is currently Senior Advisor for UN Peace and Security Affairs in the Bureau of International Organizations Affairs at State with 26 years of diplomatic experience in both the Foreign and the Civil Service. A committed multilateralist, Greg has negotiating and policy advisory experience at U. S. missions to the UN in New York and Geneva, to the OECD in Paris, and to the EU in Brussels. Greg’s previous position was the lead negotiator on management and reform for the UN and UN Funds and Programs. Greg has also served as a political advisor in Erbil, Iraq, and as an economic policy advisor at U.S. embassies in Amman and Bucharest. As Senior Economic Policy Advisor in State’s Office for Post-conflict, Reconstruction, and Stabilization, Greg’s portfolio included Kosovo, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria, and Cuba. Before joining the State Department, Greg was a writer at the Minnesota Senate.
Greg has an MSc in Government with a focus on European Politics and Policy from LSE and wrote his master's thesis on the topic of structured elite predominance in the context of the Good Friday Agreement. Greg received his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of Minnesota.
As a Visiting Fellow and drawing on the vastly talented and diverse student body at the EI, Greg is looking forward to working with faculty and visiting fellows at the Institute to encourage and develop the multilateralists of tomorrow and give them the tools they need to succeed. They are our future.
