About
George Rushworth is a Research Assistant in Economics in the Policy Hub of the Huth Initiative for a New Political Economy (HINPE), a research programme developing the ideas, policies, and institutions for a more resilient, broad-based economy. His work spans analysing datasets across economics, politics, demographics, education and health; commissioning and editing articles and writing data-led pieces on political economy; and helping to organise seminars, workshops and engagement with policy partners.
He recently completed an MSc in Inequalities and Social Science, following a BSc in International Social and Public Policy and Economics, for which he was highly commended for the John Hills Prize. His research interests relate to wealth inequality and political economy, focusing on stock market participation, asset ownership, and alternatives to wealth taxes.
Before joining the School of Public Policy, George worked as a Research Assistant to Professor Anne West in the Department of Social Policy, co-authoring working papers on secondary school admissions and selection, and as a Market Research and Intelligence Assistant, benchmarking UK universities and assessing the feasibility of potential new programmes at LSE. His data visualisation project ‘The Two Cycles of AI’ was shortlisted for the Playfair Prize in 2026.
