Katie is the Director of the Health System Resilience Unit at LSE Health.

Katie is a clinician by training, and was a UK specialist registrar in plastic surgery when she chose to step away from clinical training and study health economics and health policy as an executive student at the LSE (MSc).

Throughout her clinical years Katie had experience in healthcare systems across Europe, the US and Australia. In the UK she was heavily involved in surgical clinical trials, and analysis of national management of lower limb trauma.

Alongside her masters in health policy, Katie worked in healthcare consulting working with pharmaceutical and medtech industry in addition to UN agencies in Switzerland. After which, Katie joined the World Economic Forum’s Centre for Health and Healthcare as the Lead for Healthcare transformation.

During her time at the World Economic Forum she conceived, launched, and led two World Economic Forum initiatives; on tackling Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Outcome-Based Care. Bringing together industry, policymakers, multilateral agencies, academia, and civil society to align on priorities and commitments. Katie also led the Forum’s collaboration with the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience, a non-profit, global collaboration aiming to improve global health (www.PHSSR.org).

At the LSE, Katie is a Senior Health Policy Fellow and is the founding Director for the Health System Resilience Unit.
