Producing and Consuming Black Women’s Self-Help Books in Britain

Research Topic

Diana merges approaches in audience research and production studies to understand the social uses and felt consequences of minority media. Her doctoral work involves analysing in-depth interviews with black women authors, publishing professionals, and readers to uncover the meanings they attach to and draw from books marketed as self-help literature written by, about, and for black women.

Biography

Diana received a BA in Politics from King’s College London and MSc in African Studies from the University of Oxford. Prior to starting her PhD, she worked as an analyst in a technology research firm and as a higher education administrator.
