About

Professor Bryan W Roberts is a practitioner of Arts & Sciences and Professor of Philosophy, Logic & Scientific Method at LSE, where he has worked since 2013.

From 2019-2020, he was a Fellow at Trinity College, Cambridge, and from 2019-2022, he taught in the Part III programme in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) at Cambridge. He was the Director of the LSE Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Sciences (CPNSS) from 2020-2024.

Since 2021, he has helped to govern an LGBTQIA+ 🏳️‍🌈 staff network called Spectrum. His research is a mix of aesthetics, philosophy, mathematics, and physics, and his style is mathematical, but he finds ineffable questions irresistible and is a softy for pretty pictures. He won the Leverhulme Prize in 2019, currently co-coordinates the Philosophy of Physics Bootcamp, and is a Principal Investigator of an ERC Consolidator grant team called "Philosophical Foundations of the Edge of the Universe". His 2022 book with Cambridge University Press is called Reversing the Arrow of Time and is available Open Access for anyone to download.
