Asmaa leads the joint LSE Cities and the School of Public Policy leadership capacity building programme designed to support England's growing cohort of regional and Metro Mayors. The initiative sits within a wider programme supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies, aimed at strengthening the institutional capability of Mayoral Strategic Authorities (MSAs) and advancing the UK's broader devolution agenda.
Asmaa is responsible for the overall management, delivery and development of the programme, providing strategic and operational leadership across its partnerships, activities and stakeholder engagement. Working with partners across local government, higher education and philanthropy, she ensures the programme is delivered effectively and achieves meaningful impact for participating mayoral teams.
Prior to joining the MSA programme, Asmaa spent seven years working on the Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity (AFSEE) programme at LSE’s International Inequalities Institute. During this time, she held several roles, including Programme Manager (Global Engagement and Impact), Partnerships Lead, and most recently Senior Programme Manager (Lifelong Engagement). Asmaa first joined LSE in 2015 as Communications, Events and Alumni Engagement Officer at the School of Public Policy, supporting the School's events series and its three postgraduate programmes in public administration and public policy.
