LSE climbs World University Rankings

LSE has risen into the top 50 of the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings (WUR).
The 2027 rankings saw the School rise to 47th in the world and 7th out of UK universities, scoring highly on measures such as ‘Research Quality’ and ‘International Outlook’, and seeing improvements in Teaching, Research Environment and Research Quality.
This rise comes after a series of high performances in league tables this year. LSE was recently named Russell Group University of the Year and ranked as the top university in London in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027, coming second overall in the UK. Earlier in September, the School was named as the top university in London and third in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2027, and in June we were ranked as the top university in London in the Complete University Guide 2027.
In the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject, LSE was ranked fifth in the world and in the top three in the UK for Social Science and Management subjects, with 12 subjects placed in the global top ten.
Commenting on the results, Professor Emma McCoy, Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education), commented:
“The strong rankings for LSE this year are a tribute to the hard work of our community, who are dedicated to producing impactful, high-quality research, and to providing our students with a world-class educational experience.”
