LSE named Russell Group University of the Year

LSE has been named Russell Group University of the Year and ranked as the top university in London in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027.
The School placed second overall in the Guide and ranked top in the UK for Economics, Anthropology, Philosophy, Politics and International Relations, Psychology, and Social Policy.
Accounting and Finance, History, Geography and Environmental Science, Sociology, and Business, Management and Marketing all ranked in the UK top five.
LSE’s high ranking is based on a strong performance across a range of measures, including graduate prospects, student experience, teaching quality and continuation rates.
Commenting on the news, LSE President and Vice Chancellor, Professor Larry Kramer said: “LSE’s ongoing position at the very top of the UK higher education system reflects the dedication and talent of our faculty, staff, students, and global community.
“At LSE, we are committed to producing high-quality research that has real-world impact; and to providing our students with a first-rate educational experience to develop the attitude, skills, and network they will need to shape a better future.”
These new rankings are consistent with other recent league tables. Earlier this month, LSE was named as the top university in London in the Guardian University Guide 2027.
In June, it was ranked as the top university in London in the Complete University Guide 2027 and in March, it was ranked top three in the UK and fifth in the world for Social Science and Management subjects in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026.
