LSE continues to be a leading university for public and community engagement, graduate start-ups and continuing professional development, according to the latest Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF).

Now in its sixth year, the KEF is published by Research England and is designed to highlight how English universities collaborate with businesses, communities, and public services.

As in previous years, the framework has emphasised the School’s numerous strengths in engaging the wider world with our research. These strengths include significant engagement via our major public lecture programme and Festival; our enormous output of blogs, films, articles and podcasts; the outstanding LSE Generate, which supports our student and alumni start-ups; the breadth of the work of LSE Consulting; and our provision of online courses and life-long learning opportunities.

This year’s KEF has also demonstrated marked improvements for LSE in the key measures of ‘IP and commercialisation’ and ‘research partnerships’.

Welcoming the results, Professor Susana Mourato, LSE Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research) said:

"I am delighted to see LSE’s continued strength in knowledge exchange reflected in these results.

“Our outstanding performance in lifelong learning and public engagement is now complemented by encouraging progress in IP and commercialisation and research partnerships, demonstrating the growing breadth of LSE’s impact beyond academia.

“These results give us a strong platform to go further, investing in entrepreneurship and innovation, expanding consultancy and commercialisation, and deepening our partnerships with business, including SMEs."
