The LSE Middle East Centre is seeking a Research Assistant to provide proactive support organising a multi-media exhibition, which will be held at LSE in March 2023. The exhibition is a major output of the research project ‘Roads as Tools for (Dis)connecting Cities and Neighbourhoods: a Socio-spatial Study of Abu Dhabi’.
The postholder will work closely with the project research team, Middle East Centre and the exhibit curator to translate the research findings into a visual experience and narratives to be understood by a wide audience. In the end, they will co-author a written output with the project team. Tasks will include research, communications, engagement and impact.
The post will be based at the LSE Middle East Centre office in London and will report to Alexandra Gomes, Principal Investigator.
Start Date: Week commencing 16 January 2023.
Hours: up to 80 hours in total
Pay: £18.35 per hour

Responsibilities
- Support in the organisation and launch of project’s exhibition.
- Attend research meetings with project team.
- Assist in coordinating social media campaigns, questionnaires and polls.
- Convey research findings into condensed narratives that can be widely understood.
- Co-author written output with research team.
- Managing own research and administrative activities, with guidance.
Person Specification
Essential Skills
- Enrolled in an LSE undergraduate degree.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of communicating research findings to diverse audiences through varied formats.
- Strong organisational and time-keeping skills.
- Experience utilising social media platforms
Desirable skills
- Experience in organising events
- Interest in Middle East Studies
- Knowledge of Arabic
