About the role

We're looking for Mathematics students to help us showcase what life at LSE Mathematics is really like through engaging video and social media content.

You'll create authentic content by and for students for our Instagram, TikTok, Youtube and other digital channels, sharing everything from student life and studying Mathematics to Department events, opportunities and the people who make up our community.

This is a flexible, creative role where you can bring your own ideas and perspective. Along the way, you'll gain valuable experience in content creation, video production, communication and teamwork, while helping to shape the Department's online presence.
Whether you're an undergraduate, postgraduate or PhD student, we'd love to hear from you. No professional content creation experience is needed, enthusiasm, creativity and a willingness to get involved are what matter most.

What you'll be doing

  • Developing and planning creative content ideas
  • Creating short-form videos for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube
  • Capturing student life, Department events and activities
  • Supporting social media campaigns and key moments throughout the year
  • Sharing your perspective on studying Mathematics and life at LSE
  • Working with the Department team and other Student Content Creators to bring ideas to life
Role details
  • Flexible working: This is an hourly-paid role designed to fit around your studies
  • Pay: £19.09 per hour (Band 3, including holiday pay accrued per hour worked)
  • Training: Successful applicants will receive introductory training, including practical guidance on filming and video editing
  • Content: You'll typically create 1–3 videos per term, depending on Department activities and opportunities
Please note: This is an occasional, flexible role and regular weekly hours cannot be guaranteed. It is therefore best suited to students looking for additional paid work alongside their studies rather than a regular source of income.
How to apply

We'd love to see your creativity! To apply, choose one of the topics below and create a short 60–90 second video that gives us a sense of your personality, ideas and approach to content.
Don't worry about producing something perfect, we're interested in your creativity, communication style and potential.
