Dr Raquel Campos

Dr Raquel Campos is an Assistant Professor (Education) of Management in the Department of Management at LSE. Her research and educational interests focus on how technology shapes labour markets, institutions, learning, skill acquisition, and assessment.

Raquel has taught in the Department of Management since 2016, contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive programmes at LSE, as well as to online and international programmes at the University of London–LSE Economics, Management, Finance and Social Sciences (EMFSS). She also supports master’s students through academic mentoring and dissertation advising.

Her research examines the role of digital technologies in labour markets and institutions. Her work has appeared in The Economic Journal, Telecommunications Policy, Economics of Innovation and New Technology, and Higher Education.

Her teaching focuses on economics-based courses in management, including courses in Managerial Economics and in Strategy. She has received multiple departmental and School awards recognising her excellence in education and has repeatedly been included in the Department of Management’s Top Ten Teachers list. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Raquel’s approach to both research and education is shaped by her professional experience and academic training. Prior to entering academia, she worked in IT for Human Resources, project management, business analysis, and consulting in Spain and the United States. She holds a PhD and MSc in Economics and has prior training in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and in Law.

Raquel is a member of the Department of Management’s Artificial Intelligence Working Group, where she has contributed to departmental policy, guidance, and resources on the use of generative AI in teaching, learning, and assessment.

Raquel is a member of the Managerial Economics and Strategy Faculty Research Group.

Research interests

Raquel’s research is in applied economics, with a particular focus on how information technologies and institutional features shape job search, firm’s recruitment, academic collaboration, and human-capital investment. Her work has examined online job search and recruitment, the existence of digital divides in internet adoption and use, academic collaboration, and gender representation in engineering education.

Pedagogical interests

Raquel’s pedagogical approach leverages technology in supporting learning, engagement, skills development, and assessment design. She is especially interested in course delivery redesign in the age of Artificial Intelligence.
