Current job title and description of what this role entails:

I’m currently working as a Luxury Account Manager at the Financial Times here in London. I oversee all of the FT’s luxury travel, hospitality and motor clients working across our various products, notably How To Spend It (HTSI) and FT Weekend. My role encompasses both print and digital advertising, as well as curating bespoke experiences such as partner content, event activations, and other collaborative ventures with our clients. It is a multi-faceted role that is people-first, requiring extensive collaboration with various internal teams and departments but also with external stakeholders. Whether liaising directly with clients or coordinating with agencies, I thrive on the versatile nature of my job. I particularly enjoy the strategic and analytical aspects of my role, balanced by the creative freedom to develop compelling content and cultivate meaningful client relationships.

Tell us about your career journey since graduating from LSE?

In the two years since I graduated from LSE, I have had two quite different work experiences, both within the publishing and advertising world. Upon leaving LSE, I began my journey at TikTok as an Agency Account Manager within the GroupM team, overseeing Mindshare and their clients, ranging from Volvo to Haagen-Dazs.

TikTok was an incredible learning experience and gave me so much insight to the advertising and marketing industry and how rapidly it was changing. Their app and product were at the forefront of this change. As an established company with a start-up mentality, TikTok provided an environment that fuelled my curiosity. During my tenure, I witnessed the platform’s evolution, particularly in enticing luxury brands to have a presence on the platform. The luxury industry had always been a world I wanted to find a way into.

My journey from TikTok to the Financial Times signifies the fulfilment of a career goal I’ve held for some time. In my current role at the Financial Times, I find myself immersed in the heart of the luxury industry and I love it. I joined the FT without much experience of traditional print publishing, which initially felt daunting, but I quickly discovered that my diverse expertise offered a fresh and valuable perspective. I’ve found that embracing challenges is where I thrive. Now, as part of one of the world’s most esteemed publications, I’m honoured to contribute to an industry I’ve always aspired to be a part of.

How has the programme you studied helped your career since you graduated?

My Masters at LSE has been instrumental in shaping and advancing my career since graduation. It equipped me with practical skills and strategic insights that have proven invaluable in navigating the dynamic landscape of the marketing industry. The programme’s emphasis on analytical thinking, consumer behaviour, and market research has empowered me to approach marketing challenges with a holistic perspective and develop innovative solutions. Lastly, the diverse and intellectually stimulating environment at LSE fostered collaboration and networking opportunities, which have been pivotal in establishing connections and advancing my professional trajectory.

What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve received?

Stay curious. My curiosity has gotten me very far and it’s what keeps driving me to continuously develop my professional career and find new challenges.

What’s the greatest challenge you’ve had to overcome?

One of the greatest challenges I’ve had to overcome was transitioning into a different industry early in my career. It required me to adapt quickly, learn new skills as well as understand a completely different product, and build relationships. However, by embracing the challenge head-on, and continuously investing in my personal and professional development, I was able to thrive in my new role.

What are your hopes for the future?

I wish to stay curious and further advance my career within the luxury sector. I am drawn to roles that blend creativity with a strong business focus and envision myself moving more into luxury goods and/or fashion, where I can leverage my skills and passion to make a meaningful impact, particularly in the realm of sustainability.

Share with us your fondest memory of the Department of Management.

I love the intimacy of LSE’s campus, despite it being in the middle of London, and the diverse community it brings together. I cherish all the times spent on campus with my peers, enjoying coffee breaks, library study sessions, and soaking up the sun on Lincoln’s Inn Field during springtime.
