Management at the beginning

The Department of Management was formed in 2006-7 following the coming together of the Interdisciplinary Institute of Management, the Department of Industrial Relations, the Department of Information Systems and the Department of Operational Research. In 2008, the department moved into the New Academic Building which was officially opened by Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh to the great excitement of students and staff alike. Since then, we have grown to become a leader in management research and teaching and continue to act as a forward-thinking entity looking to create a positive impact towards the betterment of society and the world of business. We now have a new home, the Marshall Building, which is the newest building on the LSE campus!

The next ten years

Whilst we reflect on our achievements, it's important to also look ahead and plan for our future. With your continued support we will remain at the forefront of management teaching and research, and will continue to achieve and surpass our long term goals.

In 2017, we saw the launch of our new portfolio of Master’s programmes which reflects the ever-changing nature of management practice. A new fundraising campaign will provide prospective LSE students the opportunity to realise their full potential, regardless of socio-economic circumstances thanks to alumni funded scholarships. Finally, the development of an interactive online alumni platform will keep our global management alumni connected and will provide a series of opportunities to support and inspire the next generation of management students.
