ECHR Law

The ECHR law group engages in research that seeks to further understandings of European human rights law. Members of the group carry out work relating to questions of the history, practice, theory and concepts of European human rights law. Much of this work is analytical and engages with the interpretive doctrines of European human rights law (such as proportionality, the margin of appreciation doctrine, and the living instrument doctrine), the assumptions underlying certain concepts (such as the concept of 'the child'), and the values and commitments that underpin European human rights law.
