Dr Luke McDonagh presented his research on Intellectual Property Law and Covid-19 Vaccines at the UK Parliament on Wed 16th March 2022. At a roundtable meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Vaccinations for All Dr McDonagh discussed the proposal to waive certain articles of the WTO TRIPS Agreement to allow developing countries to manufacture their own vaccines and make use of the research undertaken by the WHO mRNA hub in South Africa. Present at the APPG roundtable were Dr Philippa Whitford MP (Chair), Baroness Lawrence, Lord Oakes, Clive Lewis MP and Chris Green MP, as well as Fatima Hassan, a leading campaigner on access to medicines.

Dr McDonagh - along with Dr Siva Thambisetty (LSE), Dr Aisling McMahon (Maynooth), Dr Hyo Yoon Kang (Kent) and Prof Graham Dutfield (Leeds) - is a co-author of a LSE Law Working Paper on the TRIPS waiver proposal published in May 2021, which is available here: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3851737
