A paper co-authored by Dr Giulia Gentile (LSE) and Professor Takis Tridimas (KCL), entitled ’The Essence of Rights: An Unreliable Boundary?’ (2019) 20 (6) German Law Journal, was cited to support the reasoning of Advocate General Giovanni Pitruzzella in his Opinion in case C-817/19 Ligue des droits humains v Conseil des ministres delivered on 27 January 2022. The case is currently pending before the European Court of Justice and addresses novel questions on the balancing between individual rights and public interest in the field of data protection.
