Dr Martin Husovec's work on injunctions against intermediaries (Injunctions Against Intermediaries in the European Union: Accountable But Not Liable? CUP 2017) has been cited repeatedly by the Advocate General Saugmandsgaard Øe in YouTube/Cyando Opinion at the European Court of Justice. The case centres on the question whether YouTube, a video-sharing platform, and Cyando, a file hosting service, violate copyright law when their users upload unauthorized copyrighted material on their services. Dr Husovec's work was used to explain how the general EU rules governing some aspects of liability of platforms interact with digital copyright law.
