You are all invited to join us at the second webinar in a series, devoted to the analysis of the impacts on society, economy, politics, and law brought about by the CoViD-19 pandemic. In this second meeting, we are honoured to host Dr Margaret Ann Harris, Spokesperson World Health Organization, public health physician specializing in emergency risk communications.

In this second webinar, we will make an overview of the outbreak from WHO point of view, will explore what we have learned and what we have achieved.  We will also take opportunity to evaluate what we need to do to stop transmission while keeping societies as functional and productive as possible in these delicate and unpredictable times.

The event is organised by the LSE Executive LLM Alumni Association, with the generous assistance of the Director and staff of the LSE Executive LLM Programme, and the LSE Department of Law support.

Dr Margaret Harris was born and raised in Australia, studied medicine at the University of Sydney, law at the University of Hong Kong then did a masters of international public health at the University of Sydney. She has spent most of her adult working life in Asia, Africa and Europe, working for the World Health Organization for the past ten years, mostly in infectious disease outbreaks such as polio, Ebola, Yellow Fever, Zika Virus, MERS and now COVID-19.

David Kershaw is Professor of Law at the LSE and Director of the Executive LLM Programme. He is also the General Editor of the Modern Law Review. He joined the LSE in 2006. Prior to joining the LSE he was a Lecturer in Law at the University of Warwick between 2003-2006. He is admitted to the New York Bar and is a qualified UK solicitor. Prior to his academic career, he qualified as a Solicitor at Herbert Smith, London and practised corporate law in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group of Shearman & Sterling in New York and London.
