A longstanding strategic partnership

Formalised through a memorandum of understanding in November 2024, LSE’s partnership with Tsinghua University spans research, education and faculty-led academic exchanges. The partnership is underpinned by sustained institutional engagement and shared strengths in sustainability, health policy, economics, finance, public policy and other global challenges. Key activities include the LSE–Tsinghua University Sustainability Research Fund , a joint seed fund supporting collaborative research on sustainability-related themes, through which 12 projects have been awarded funding. Other collaborations include dual master’s programmes in Health Policy with the Tsinghua Institute of Hospital Management, as well as the Confucius Institute for Business London (CIBL).

Advancing collaboration

During the visit, discussions focused on shared strategic priorities and future opportunities for collaboration. Senior leaders exchanged perspectives on the evolving role of universities in addressing global challenges and explored ways to deepen cooperation across areas of mutual interest, including sustainability, carbon neutrality and global public health. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to celebrate the partnership’s achievements to date while identifying new areas for future cooperation.
