CIVICA secures new Erasmus+ funding
CIVICA – The European University of Social Sciences – has secured a new Erasmus+ grant from the European Commission, enabling the alliance to continue and expand its work over the next two years. The funding reaffirms CIVICA’s role as a leading force in European higher education and supports its mission to strengthen collaboration in the social sciences across Europe.
Bringing together ten leading universities in nine countries, CIVICA has spent the past six years creating new opportunities for students, academics and professional services staff to learn, collaborate and innovate across borders. This latest phase of funding will help deepen those connections, allowing even more members of the CIVICA community to benefit from international mobility, joint activities and shared expertise.
Over the next two years, CIVICA will build on its existing achievements while launching new initiatives that reflect evolving priorities across European higher education. Key areas of focus include developing innovative educational pathways, strengthening research collaboration, embedding open science practices and expanding lifelong learning opportunities. The alliance will also pilot a new inclusiveness programme and continue exploring the European Degree Label initiative.
Reflecting emerging challenges and opportunities, CIVICA has also renewed its scientific priorities. A fifth priority area dedicated to security and resilience has been introduced, alongside a stronger focus on the role of artificial intelligence in the social sciences.

CIVICA has matured into a model of how European universities can work together, durably and at scale. At a moment when Europe faces extensive structural pressures, sustained transnational investment in the social sciences is timely and will support the dissemination of knowledge
The ambition is to establish CIVICA as a leading global voice for the social sciences, providing the next generation of Europeans with the critical skills needed to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex world.
