Professor Jean-Paul Faguet featured in Deutsche Welle report on Pakistan’s economic future

Professor Jean-Paul Faguet of LSE International Development has been featured in a new Deutsche Welle (DW) video exploring whether the creation of new provinces could help boost economic development in Pakistan.
The report, titled Pakistan: Could new provinces boost Pakistan’s economy?, examines the potential opportunities and challenges associated with creating smaller administrative units, including implications for regional development, public spending, infrastructure and investment.
Drawing on his research on decentralisation and governance, Professor Faguet contributed expert analysis on how the design of local and regional government can shape economic outcomes and public service delivery. The interview formed part of DW’s wider examination of whether administrative reform could create new opportunities for growth whilst also presenting risks such as increased costs and fiscal fragmentation.
