Women in Diplomacy: Media and Digital Violence

This policy brief explores how the digital sphere creates new barriers to women’s representation in diplomacy, particularly through technology-facilitated gender-based violence and its amplification across media and online platforms. It assesses the implications for women diplomats and diplomatic institutions, and propose targeted policy recommendations to create a safer, more inclusive digital environment for women in diplomacy.

Meet the Speakers

KRISTINE BAEKGAARD is a PhD student in the Department of International Relations at LSE researching technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) in conflict affected contacts. Prior to joining LSE, Kristine was a Research Fellow at the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS), where she drove policy work on the intersection of peace, technology, and Women, Peace, and Security.

AMAL KHAN is a BSc International Relations student and is an Undergraduate Research Assistant on the Women in Diplomacy project.
