Ahead of the UK Government’s final discussion on its Integrated Review of foreign, defence, security and development policy, a panel of LSE IDEAS experts consider what it should conclude.

The UK Government is now finalising its Integrated Review of the country’s foreign, security, defence and international development policy.  The Review will set out the Government’s objectives for the UK’s international role following the departure from the European Union, looking at opportunities for re-calibrating the UK’s role, and growing challenges from competing powers and other forms of risk.  Chaired by Professor Karen Smith, Head of LSE’s Department of International Relations, the panel will define the issues and suggest how the Government should set priorities.

Christopher Coker is Director of LSE IDEAS. He was Professor of International Relations at LSE, retiring in 2019.

Susan Scholefield is a member of the LSE Economic Diplomacy Commission and Visiting Professor in the Department of Politics, University of Surrey.

Peter Watkins an Associate Fellow for Chatham House and a Visiting Senior Fellow with LSE IDEAS.

Karen Smith is a Professor of International Relations and Head of the Department of International Relations at LSE.
