Future Focus is a new group coaching programme for 3rd year students in the Department of Government.

Led by Strategic Leadership Advisor & Executive Coach - Tina Fahm - the pilot launches in October 2025.

Eligibility criteria

1. Enrolled 3rd Year Undergraduate Student

  • Must be in their final year of an undergraduate programme at LSE.

2. Class Attendance

  • Demonstrated regular attendance in classes/seminars.

3. Full Commitment to the Programme

  • Must be available to attend all six sessions
  • Must commit to attending all scheduled coaching sessions.
  • Willingness to actively participate in group discussions, reflections, and exercises. 

4. Personal Motivation

  • Demonstrated in application form

5. Professional Conduct

  • Respectful, open-minded, and willing to maintain confidentiality within the group.

6. No Conflicting Programmes

  • Not currently enrolled in a conflicting time-intensive LSE coaching or development programme, unless allowed under specific conditions.

7. End-of-Programme Feedback

  • Willing to complete a post-programme reflection or feedback survey for evaluation and future improvements.

Programme outcomes

  1. Enhanced Clarity on Post-Graduation Pathways
    Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of their personal and professional direction, whether that’s entering the workforce, pursuing further study, or exploring alternative routes. 
  2. Improved Self-Awareness and Confidence
    Through reflective exercises and coaching dialogues, students will develop a stronger sense of their values, strengths, and areas for growth, leading to increased self-confidence and enhanced decision-making abilities. 
  3. Goal Setting and Action Planning Skills
    Students will gain practical tools to set realistic short- and long-term goals, and will leave the programme with a tailored action plan for their final months at LSE and beyond. 
  4. Stronger Peer Support and Networking Skills
     Participants will build a supportive peer coaching community, practicing active listening, giving constructive feedback, and growing interpersonal and collaborative skills. 
  5. Greater Resilience and Adaptability
    By exploring mindset, handling uncertainty, and addressing fears around transition, students will develop resilience to navigate life changes with more flexibility and confidence.

Tina Fahm - Strategic Leadership Advisor & Executive Coach

Tina Fahm is a trusted advisor to senior leaders navigating complexity, change, and challenge. With over two decades of experience spanning boardrooms, regulatory bodies, and international organisations, Tina brings deep insight into governance, leadership development, and high-stakes decision-making.

She is a director at Fahm & Co and the creator of its proprietary leadership framework, which supports CEOs, C-suite executives, and board members through transition, tension, and transformation. Her approach is person-centred, rooted in behavioural science, and shaped by practical experience across sectors and continents.

Tina is a certified executive coach with postgraduate degrees from the University of London and the University of Cambridge. She is known for her calm presence, strategic clarity, and ability to help senior leaders lead with confidence and authenticity.

At LSE, Tina leads the "Future Focus: Coaching for Life after LSE" group coaching programme for final-year undergraduates. The programme offers a reflective, supportive space for students to explore their personal and professional direction as they prepare for life beyond university.

With a warm, structured, and insight-driven approach, Tina encourages students to uncover their own answers, navigate uncertainty, and take meaningful next steps.

Programme roadmap and session content

Session 1: "Starting Point – Where Am I Now?" 

Focus: Self-awareness & current mindset  

  • Reflect on current experiences, emotions, and perspectives about the future  
  • Introduce coaching principles and group norms  
  • Identify personal values and how they influence decisions  
  • Begin building group trust and psychological safety  

Session 2: "Defining Success – What Matters Most to Me?"

Focus: Personal values & purpose 

  • Deepen understanding of individual motivations and goals  
  • Explore definitions of success beyond external expectations  
  • Use tools like the Values Card Sort or Life Compass to clarify priorities  
  • Begin connecting personal values to post-graduation choices  

Session 3: "Possibilities – What’s Out There for Me?"

Focus: Exploring options and broadening vision 

  • Expand thinking around potential futures (career, study, gap years, etc.)  
  • Challenge limiting beliefs and explore realistic optimism  
  • Introduce visualisation or scenario mapping activities  
  • Encourage openness to less conventional or evolving paths  

Session 4: "Making It Real – What Do I Want to Work Toward?"

Focus: Goal setting and decision-making  

  • Choose a short- or medium-term goal to focus on  
  • Use SMART or GROW model to refine it  
  • Explore barriers (internal and external)  
  • Develop strategies for accountability and next steps  

Session 5: "Tools for Transition – What Will Help Me Thrive?"

Focus: Resilience, confidence & coping with uncertainty  

  • Discuss mindset, dealing with setbacks, and managing transitions  
  • Share peer strategies for stress, comparison, imposter syndrome  
  • Introduce self-coaching tools and future planning frameworks  
  • Build a toolkit of supportive habits and networks  

Session 6: "Owning the Journey – What’s My Next Move?"

Focus: Reflection & personal commitment  

  • Reflect on growth over the course of the programme  
  • Share personal action plans with the group  
  • Celebrate individual insights and group learning  
  • Write a “Letter to Future Me”
