Apply for funding

The LSE Living Lab team welcomes project proposals from all LSE students and staff, regardless of discipline or department.

If you need support with your application or would like to discuss your proposal in more detail before submitting, please contact f.fowowe@lse.ac.uk.

Applications for the first round of LSE Living Lab funding are now open. The deadline for proposal submission is 31 July 2026. Applicants will be contacted by the LSE Living Lab team within four weeks of the submission deadline.

Apply For LSE Living Lab Funding

Proposals can be submitted by students, academic staff, and professional services staff. You can submit individually or as a team.

Student eligibility:

  • For Research Projects, 3rd-year undergraduate, master’s, or PhD students may apply. Research Projects can form part of your dissertation, master's, or PhD research.
  • Students must obtain sign-off from their academic supervisor before submitting a Research project proposal.

Staff eligibility:

  • Academic and professional services staff can apply for both Research and Action project funding.

Yes, you can apply for Research and Action Project funding.

The purpose of the LSE Living Lab is to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world impact. This can be done through research and/or community engagement projects.

We would encourage Research Project proposals to consider community engagement initiatives as part of their funding request. Additional funding is available through the Action Project fund to support community engagement work.

If you are applying for both Research and Action Project funding as part of a single Living Lab Project, please use the combined proposal form.

Application are open for the first round of LSE Living Lab funding.

You can submit multiple LSE Living Lab project proposals. If you need support with your application or would like to discuss your proposal in more detail before submitting, please contact f.fowowe@lse.ac.uk.

If you are requesting Research and Action Project funding as part of a single Living Lab Project (ie your Action Project and Research Project are connected), please submit a combined proposal form. This allows the LSE Living Lab team to consider your full funding request more easily.

If you are applying for Research Project funding only, please use the Research Project form.

If you are applying for Action Project funding only please use the Action Project form.

Proposals must be submitted by 11:59pm on 31st July 2026.

Submission steps:

  1. Complete the correct  LSE Living Lab Project Proposal form.
  2. Submit your proposal to the LSE Living Lab team.
  3. Receive a response - we aim to provide a funding decision within four weeks of the application deadline.
