Dr Benjamin Braun co-organises Finance & Democracy Summer Workshop with Brown University and LSE

On 4-5 June 2026, the European Institute held the “Finance & Democracy Summer Workshop,” a two-day intensive training programme co-organised by Dr Benjamin Braun, our Assistant Professor in Political Economy.

Run jointly by the Berkeley Program on Finance & Democracy, the Rhodes Center for International Economics and Finance at Brown University, and the LSE European Institute and Huth Initiative for a New Political Economy at LSE, the workshop marked the programme's first edition in Europe, following two successful years at Brown University.

The programme brought together over thirty advanced doctoral candidates and early career scholars for instruction and discussions focused on finance as a core dimension of political economy, democracy, and state power. Alongside these sessions, the workshop fostered an international, interdisciplinary community of scholars working at the cross-sections of finance and democracy.
